A New Start of Pharmacy Education and Profession in Nepal
A NEW START OF PHARMACY EDUCATION AND PROFESSION IN NEPAL
Lekhnath Lamichhane
Carving a small panaroma of article about us is not really a difficult task. But,the worst enemy to creativity and self-writing is self doubt, right? I don’t know whether I am this much mature to plan for an article like this but hope this article does some good to depict the Nepal’s pharmacists status. Perhaps, many will see it and let it go without even reading the first line. Let it be dear ones, I am glad to find that you are reading this line, may god bless you and let’s go straight to the point to find the status of Nepalese pharmacists.
Truely speaking, I do live in the society where people are continuously busy bulleting the professions. Yes, it really hurts listening this. We, pharmacists are bulleted in a place way down even in the list of health care profesionals, according to the society. Pharmacists in Nepal are more and more considered as Drug sellers in commercial enterprises. Yes,you know, I know and perhaps many of the people doing a damn good research on our professional clearly know the exact truth what exactly are pharmacists.
I am not just mugging on my profession just because I am in this, I also do support and believe that every profession are equal .I am just writing this so that many people who have no idea about it know who are chief person in Medicine research ,Department of Drug Administration, Pharmaceutical Industry, Hospital Pharmacy and so on. Let’s get into the fact why this pharmacy profession is filled with plenty of myths and let’s talk about the ways to mitigate it. Nepal, being a country with appropriate resources and infrastructures, has billions of plans to make an improve in our pharmacy profession. But the main stopping agent is the ineffective manpower for an effective pharmaceutical training and study. National and international collaboration is must for the upliftment of this profession.
Dear pharmacists and assistant pharmacist brother and sister , do believe that you are not always alone. We are always together in the upliftment of our profession. Let us stand together and end tons of corruption and misbeliefs regarding pharmacy profession. Let’s jointly venture and make a good sense of memorendum of understanding between us. Limited resources and corruption in this profession is a heck and a sad pitfall indeed. Let’s force ministry of health and population, Department of Drug Administration and Nepal Pharmacy Council to jointly venture with the universities giving pharmacy education and improve the pharmacy related national guidelines.
As, multiprofessional health care team,we pharmacists have to develop interprofessional education and let’s make the precise scope of clinical and industrial pharmacists a beautiful outcome for the coming generation. Let’s stop corruption and let the constitution,Drug policy and guidelines be followed. I Just want to remind every pharmacist and assistant pharmacist brother and sister that you are amazing and totally different and it’s our role to make people know about this profession precisely and it’s our duty to uplift this profession. This is just a simple small try from me.
“It’s like we just found a book called Pharmacy education and practice in Nepal and we open the book. We find all the pages blank in this book and we pharmacy professionals are gonna put our words by ourselves. So, take it as an opportunity and let us start our new chapter of the book and let’s name the first chapter” A NEW START”.”
