These standards are established to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of drugs and pharmaceutical preparations used in healthcare.

- “European Pharmacopoeia” published by Council of Europe.
- “Pharmacopoeia of India” published by the Ministry of Health of Government of India.
- “British Pharmacopoeia” published by Ministry of Health and Social Services of British Government under the Medicine Act, 1968.
- “The United States Pharmacopoeia” made under the United States Pharmacopoeia Convention.
- “State pharmacopoeia of the union of Soviet Socialist” published by the Ministry of the Health of the USSR.
